Community Diaper Bank FAQ

Below, we address common questions related to our community diaper bank.

Q: Who is eligible to request assistance from the diaper bank?
A:
Families and individuals living in Conejo Valley (and surrounding areas within Ventura County) are eligible to apply for diaper bank assistance. Primarily, we serve Conejo Valley, of which we include these cities: Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Westlake Village and Agoura), however, as long as we have resources, we provide support throughout the County of Ventura into Camarillo, Ventura and Oxnard areas as well.

Q: How do I apply for assistance for the community diaper bank?
A:
To apply for assistance, please first visit our diaper bank process page, which outlines the process for how to request assistance. We have different processes set up depending on if you are a new (first-time) client, a returning client, or have been referred by an organization. If you are a new client, you will be required to send in additional eligibility information before we process your request, which is detailed HERE. If you are affiliated with an organization or nonprofit, and would like to request assistance on behalf of a client (or clients), that process begins here.

Q: Do you share my personal information with other organizations?
A: No. Any information you provide remains confidential and is for internal verification purposes, only.

Q: Can I apply if I'm pregnant?
A: You may apply for assistance beginning the month of your due date.

Q: What can I expect when I pick up my diapers?
A: You will receive a detailed confirmation email when your diaper order is ready. Our diaper bank location operates out of a board member's residence in Newbury Park. The diaper bank is self-serve and you do not need to check in. You will be able to identify your order (which will be labeled), and will be able to pick up up and go. We do not deliver diaper orders.

Q: How many times can I request and receive assistance?
A: You may request a supplemental package of diapers and wipes once per month, per child. Each package will contain diapers and wipes for each child you request assistance for. You must fill out a form each month in order to receive diapers and wipes for that month. We do not limit how many months you may request assistance.

Q: How many diapers and wipes can I expect to receive in a monthly package?
A:
We set "target" ranges for diaper amount based on the size requested.* The range per size is as follows:
  • Newborn and size 1: 120-140 diapers
  • Sizes 2 & 3: 110-120 diapers
  • Sizes 4 & 5: 95- 110 diapers
  • Size 6: 70-75 diapers
  • Size 7: 60 diapers
  • Pullups: 50-60 diapers
  • Overnights: 30 diapers
For wipes, we aim to provide 175-200 wipes per child.
*Please note that these are our target ranges and that we aim for consistency. You may see some fluctuation in amount you receive based on brand and current inventory we have available to fill your order.

Q: May I request a specific brand? What brands do you provide?
A.
We ask that you only request a specific brand if your child has a brand allergy (not a brand preference.) The usual brands we order include: Members Mark (Sam's Club) and Mama Bear (Amazon). We also do provide Huggies/Kirkland and Pampers for children with brand allergies — but please note we keep a limited amount of these brands in stock and they may not be readily available. For wipes, we primarily use Members Mark (Sam's Club), Parent's Choice, and Pampers Sensitive (when in stock.) Due to COVID-19, availability of certain brands is not guaranteed. All wipes are unscented.
NOTE: For sizes 3, 4 & 5, we have recently partnered with Food Share, and have received a large shipment of BEBIN brand diapers for these sizes. We ask that if you need these sizes, you first try this brand before asking for a different brand.

Q: After submitting a request, how long does it take to receive my diapers?
A: If you are a returning client, or have sent in all of your eligibility paperwork with your first-time request, we currently aim to fill diaper requests within 3-5 days. Pending on inventory, you may even receive same-day fill but it is not guaranteed. Please wait 4 days before following up on an order request. If we have not emailed you within 4 days of your request being submitted, you may email us for a status update. If you are an organization requiring a multi-family order, please estimate a 5-7-day turnaround pending on if we have inventory to fill, or need to place an order to accommodate request.

We currently fill orders three times a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, and either Thursday or Friday.

Please pick up your diapers within 4 days of email confirmation. Our benches fill up quickly.

Q: I am a representative of an organization and wish to refer a client. How does this process work?
A: If your organization is already on our organization referral list, you simply need to submit a form for your client HERE and we will process the order upon receiving. If your organization has not partnered with us previously, please email us to begin that process. If you are hoping to request a bulk amount of orders (e.g. have multiple families to support, please email us and we will contact you to begin that process.)

Q: I need assistance but cannot provide all of the paperwork/identification requested.
A: Please email us to discuss alternative options to verify eligibility.

Q: I am not able to pick up my diapers — can I send someone to pick up on my behalf?
A: Yes. Please email us to notify us if someone will be picking up for you, but that is not a problem.

Q: How can I support the diaper bank?
A: Thank you for asking! We accept monetary donations via our PayPal, diapers (opened boxes are fine, but packages of diapers must be sealed), and unopened wipes. We also appreciate being the recipient of diaper drives (please email us to coordinate) and we have an Amazon wishlist set up.
