Food/WIC/Employment Services

The County of Ventura Human Services Agency — 
Thousand Oaks Satellite Office offers CalFresh Program (food stamps), Medi-Cal, Cal/WIN Program, Cal/Works, Employment Services, CPS, Foster Care, Family Reunification, Adoptions, Independent Living Program.

After you've applied for those programs if eligible, there are other alternatives. You can always reach out to Manna, which has a food pantry located in Thousand Oaks. Make sure to bring your photo I.D. and your own shopping bags. The pantry offers a large selection of bakery, produce, dairy, meat, canned, boxed, and other staple items suitable for making a warm and hearty meal. According to their website, clients may receive food every 28 days. 

If more frequent food assistance is needed, they suggest contacting the Cal Fresh Coordinator at FOOD Share. They will be able to advise you on long-term food assistance programs. FOOD Share – (805) 983-7100.

HOLY FAMILY SERVICES
Provides counseling to birth parents with unplanned pregnancies; family and individual counseling, foster care. Complete adoption services available.

FinancialAssistanceForSingleMothers
This site helps financially struggling single mothers with finding grants and government assistance programs. The service is free of cost.


Financial Support


LSS COMMUNITY CARE CENTERS
Homeless Services (H2H) provides food, laundry, showers, case management for short term help while in transition to housing. Meals and winter shelter program.  Qualified low income families experiencing emergencies can receive financial support for rent, utilities etc.  Families suffering from long term poverty receive resources and allies from the community whose goal is to help them transition out of poverty.

Emergency Shelter


INTERFACE CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICES
Provides counseling for children, youth, and families for prevention and recovery from all types of domestic violence, sexual abuse and neglect. In addition parenting programs, emergency shelter and intervention for runaway homeless youth; services and emergency shelter for families experiencing family violence.

Medical & Legal Services

CONEJO FREE CLINIC
Medical and legal services for those who cannot afford private care; medical clinics; women, infant and children screening; immunizations; legal clinics and Family Law classes. Bankruptcy, custody class and anonymous HIV testing.

WESTMINSTER FREE CLINIC
Westminster Community Care Center is a private, non-profit community care center serving the working poor and uninsured of Ventura County. We also serve as a training site for high school students considering careers in healthcare.Westminster Free Clinic is 100% free. We serve as a safety-net for those with no other affordable options and fill gaps as needed.


The clinic is first come first serve, providing access to health care to over 100 patients on Wednesday nights. We do not take patients with Medi-Cal, medicare, or other insurance programs.

Youth and Foster Resources


CASA PACIFICA
They meet kids and families at the most challenging times of their lives and help them overcome some of life’s most difficult circumstances – abuse and neglect, complex emotional and behavioral issues, and family crises.  
Headquartered on a rural 24-acre campus five miles from the Pacific Ocean, Casa Pacifica serves abused and neglected children and adolescents, and those with severe emotional, social, behavioral, and mental health challenges.

JAMES STOREHOUSE
James Storehouse is a 501(c)(3) community based non-profit. We partner with local public and private child welfare agencies. James Storehouse fulfills emergency requests to expedite safe placement of babies and children and to assist aged-out youth as they transition. We have received commendations from Los Angeles County and Ventura County recognizing our service to the foster care community.

Homelessness and Food Insecurity

HARBOR HOUSE
Harbor House is a social service agency dedicated to helping those who are most vulnerable. They serve the homeless, hungry and poor by mobilizing the power of the local community.  Working with those that are in poverty means they are working with those who struggle with food and housing insecurity, unemployment, addiction, mental illness and abuse.
