What We Do — Community Diaper Bank

Conejo Community Outreach (a 100% volunteer-run 501c3) nonprofit, operates a Community Diaper Bank supporting families in Ventura County with free monthly supplemental packages of diapers and wipes. It is through the generosity of community supporters and local business, that we are able to distribute 25,000-30,000 diapers each month between 300-400 children each month.
Since our Community Diaper Bank launch in 2018, we have provided more than 1 million diapers to families in Ventura County (a/o August 2023).

Get Help from the Diaper BankDue to the high demand for diaper support in our County, we currently have a WAIT LIST for families seeking diaper support. As current clients cycle out, or we receive additional grant funding, we will notify those on our waitlist when they are eligible to apply for support.

Providing a Solution to a Community Need

"Infants use about 240 diapers per month. A year’s supply of diapers costs $936. That means a single mother mother working full time at the minimum wage can expect to spend 6 percent of her annual pay on Pampers alone. Meanwhile, the two biggest programs that assist low-income mothers, SNAP (food stamps) and WIC, don’t cover diapers or baby wipes.
That might be why, in a study of 877 pregnant and parenting women published in Pediatrics in 2013, a team of researchers found that needing diapers and not being able to buy them was a leading cause of mental health problems among new moms." (Source: The Atlantic)

A Community Nonprofit You Can Trust
In September 2023, Supervisor Jeff Gorell worked with County of Ventura CEO Sevet Johnson to identify grant funding for our diaper bank. The Ventura County Board of Supervisors voted to award CCO with $10,000 of funding each year for four years (2023-2026.)
We are so grateful to the board of supervisors, for unanimously supporting this funding (including Vianey Lopez, Matt LaVere, Janice Parvin, Kelly Long). Thank you to Supervisor Gorell, Mark Perryman and Dale Thomas, who put a lot of work into presenting this to the board and advocating on behalf of vulnerable families in our community. |
Conejo Community Outreach was honored to receive the Nonprofit of the Year Award from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce on May 20, 2022.
The Chamber granted CCO $2,500 from its foundation as part of the ceremony. Our community volunteers, supporters and donors make the diaper bank a reality for many families and we are grateful to you all. |
Community Partnerships
Thank you to Food Share of Ventura County for choosing CCO as a diaper distribution partner. Through our partnership, CCO is a partner organization that receives boosts of diaper support from Food Share when supplies are available.
