What Can I Expect?
If you've been approved to start receiving diapers from the diaper bank, here's what you can expect below during your 2-year eligibility period.
Q: After I've been approved for diaper bank support, how long am I eligible for diaper bank support?
A: Approved diaper bank clients are eligible for up to 24 months of diaper bank support within a 2-year period. This means, if you submit once per month during your 2-year eligibility period, you will receive 24 months of supplemental diaper bank support packages. If you do not place an order every month, your eligibility period will still end at the 2-year mark. If you do not submit an order for four (4) consecutive months, your diaper bank status will be put on hold as we attempt to contact you. If we have not received any order or communication from you within six (6) months, your eligibility will be paused and you will need to resubmit to the waitlist to resume receiving support.
Q: How do I submit my diaper order?
A. Approved diaper bank clients will need to submit their monthly diaper order through the Returning Client form that is located on the Returning Client page of our website. Clients should bookmark this page, as they will need to submit an order once per month (noting the ordering time frame for each month), in order to receive diapers for that month. We do not place orders for clients, nor do we send out order reminders. This form is only for approved, returning clients. New clients that have not received support must fill out the waitlist and await further instructions.
Q: After submitting a request, how long does it take to receive my diapers?
A: We currently aim to fill diaper requests within 5-7 days. Pending on our inventory, you may even receive same-day fill but, it is not guaranteed. Please wait 7 days before following up on an order request. If you have not heard from us within 7 days of submitting your request, you may email us for a status update. Please do not submit a duplicate form as a followup.
We typically have volunteer shifts on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, meaning the most ideal days to place your order for fastest turnaround, is on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Additionally, please note that the first week of the month is our busiest time, which means you may experience a longer wait time than you would submitting your order during the second or third week of the month. That said, you may place an order on any day, at any time of day, based on the stated ordering time frame on the Returning Client page.
Please note: RAIN or extreme weather (heat warnings) may cause delays in our ability to process orders.
Q: What can I expect when I pick up my diapers?
A: You will receive a detailed confirmation email when your diaper order is ready. Our diaper bank location operates out of a board member's residence in Newbury Park. The diaper bank is set up as a self-serve location, meaning you do not need to check in — unless you have issues locating your diaper order, in which case you are encouraged to knock on the front door for assistance.
You will be able to identify your order by the label on the box or bag, which will include your full name and diaper order size requested. Please do not look through other client orders or take other client orders if there is a mistake with yours. Please knock on the door or email us to notify us if there has been a mistake in size and/or brand, and we will address.
Q: How many times can I request diaper bank support?
A.: You may submit one diaper request per month, per child. Please do not submit multiple requests per month, as this could lead to your eligibility being revoked. If you need to follow up on a diaper order (it has been more than 7 days since you submitted), please email us at [email protected].
Q. I see there are boxes of diapers in the courtyard. Am I allowed to take some?
A. No. Please do not take boxes of diapers or wipes that are not clearly labeled with your name and size requests. If there are diapers/wipes stacked in the courtyard, those are more often than not, deliveries to be put away, and not "up for grabs." The *only* exception to this, is if there are open/unsealed boxes of PREVAIL brand pads and pullups that are placed by the courtyard entrance. We get boxes of these donated regularly and are you welcome to take what you need from those.
Q. I am a current client and I am expecting a new baby. Does this extend my eligibility period and/or do I need fill out the waitlist for my new baby?
A. Congratulations on your pregnancy! A new pregnancy does not extend your eligibility period. Beginning the month of your due date, you may start requesting support for your new child on a monthly basis, so long as it's within your 2-year eligibility period.
Q: How many diapers and wipes can I expect to receive in a monthly package?
A: We aim to provide at least 50 diapers per child (but often provide, on average, 75 diapers per month, with the exception of pullups).
We set "target" ranges for diaper amount based on the size requested and the brand.*
The range-per-size is as follows:
*Please note that these are our target ranges and that while we aim for consistency, you may see some fluctuation in amount you receive based on special brand requests and current inventory we have available to fill your order.
Q: May I request a specific brand? What brands do you provide?
A. We ask that you only request a specific brand if your child has a brand allergy (not a brand preference.)
In our partnership with Food Share, we now provide Food Share branded diapers as our primary diaper offering, while supplies last.
For children who don't respond well to Food Share diapers, we provide Members Mark (Sam's Club) and Mama Bear (Amazon).
For children with allergies, we provide Huggies and Pampers (size NB-6) — but please note we keep a limited amount of these brands in stock given the expense. Clients who request Huggies/Pampers should prepare for longer wait time for diaper pickup, and a diaper package that leans toward the low end of the diaper quantity range.
For wipes, we primarily use UNSCENTED Members Mark (Sam's Club).
Q: I am not able to pick up my diapers — can I send someone to pick up on my behalf?
A: Yes. Please email us to notify us if someone will be picking up for you, but that is not a problem.
Q.: Can I pick up diapers for a friend or sibling also receiving support from the diaper bank?
A. Yes. Please email us to notify us so we can make sure to group orders together.
Q: What actions could result in disqualification from the diaper bank ?
A. Any of the follow may lead to immediate disqualification:
A: Approved diaper bank clients are eligible for up to 24 months of diaper bank support within a 2-year period. This means, if you submit once per month during your 2-year eligibility period, you will receive 24 months of supplemental diaper bank support packages. - You submit multiple orders under different names for the same child(ren).
- You and a co-parent both submit requests for the same child, each month. (Each child is eligible to receive one package per month of diapers and wipes. If the parents are not in a relationship/same household, but are still co-parenting, email us at [email protected] to discuss splitting up the support package in order for each parent to receive a portion of diapers.)
- You submit false or forged paperwork.
- You take diapers or wipes from the courtyard that are not labeled for you.
