CCO Response to COVID-19

Without a doubt, we are facing an unprecedented time. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted. We know for many of you, your businesses and livelihoods have been greatly affected, and your financial situation today may be very different than it was just a week or two ago.

We are committed to continuing to operate our community diaper bank for as long as we have the resources to do so. In order to support as many families as possible, for as long as possible, CCO may need to consider adjusting our regular quantity amounts, and the turnaround time for weekly fills. At present, like everyone impacted, we are doing our best to source diapers and wipes, but are at the whim of store availability and price points we need to meet to keep our diaper bank thriving.

We thank you for your patience as we work to process your diaper assistance requests. Please know that we are doing everything possible to ensure we will be here for you as a resource.

To the many wonderful supporters we have, we simply, from the bottom of our hearts, cannot thank you enough for your continued support by way of financial donations and donations of diapers and wipes. In this time, those donations — more than ever — make all the difference in enabling our diaper bank to continue supporting our regular monthly clients, while also responding to larger, emergency requests from other organizations for diaper assistance. In this past week alone, we've received requests that amount to 10,000 diapers. We truly mean each and every dollar, diaper and wipe you've contributed to the diaper bank is helping families in our community. We hope to be able to thank you each individually.

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy, and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.

Cloth Diapering Basics

Is the lack of availability for diapers making you nervous for what to do if you run out and cannot find any for your baby? If so, there are ways to cloth diaper using old materials found around your house.  The secret is to only use dish towels or old T-shirts that are 100% cotton, as synthetics are not absorbent and will instead repel water.  The easiest way to test something you are unsure about is to do a water test with a quarter cup of water.  If the material absorbs the water quickly, it will make an adequate diaper in a pinch. If the material repels or beads water, it’s best to look elsewhere.

As we wrap up our fourth year and embrace 2020, we'd like to take a minute to reflect on all the community (YOU), have helped us accomplish in 2019. As a 100% volunteer-run Conejo Valley nonprofit, none of the resources we distribute to families and residents in our community would be possible if it weren't for your continued support — whether that be through financial contributions, volunteer time, or both.

Did you know that no government safety net organization provides diapers for babies in need?  Did you know that a common stumbling block for mothers hoping to get back to work is the inability to front to a daycare a full week of disposable diapers?

We stock in our Closet items such as gently used baby and toddler clothing, maternity wear, work attire, coats and jackets, and baby items such as bottles, blankets, diapers, wipes and beyond, thanks to the generous donations from our community.

Convenient, easy "go-to" snacks & meals

These days, we're all on-the-go! If we're not juggling multiple kids, or multiple jobs, we're staring at that stacked pile of laundry that no one wants to fold, or dreading the "what's for dinner" dilemma.

Our treasurer, Lauren, has quite a bit of experience juggling life as a working mom (she's a great hair stylist!) and three kiddos! We asked her for some of her fave go-to meals that she keeps around to make in a pinch!
